Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is being used increasingly as a non-surgical approach to hair loss around the world.  It has been used by physicians since the 1990’s for various medical needs.

The main uses include but are not limited to: male pattern balding, female pattern loss, scarring alopecia, and occasionally alopecia areata.

PRP ExtractionPRP is a concentration of your own autologous platelets which have reservoirs filled with powerful growth factors and healing agents.

It is “harvested” from your own blood. This is done by collecting a small volume of your blood and spinning it down to separate the red blood cells from the platelet cells.

This resulting PRP is then activated and introduced back under the skin by a series of tiny injections.

PRP helps signal your body’s own stem cells and growth cells to jump start the healing, repair, and rejuvenating process.

What happens in a PRP session?

♦  Arrive at the office and meet with doctor and have any questions answered and explained. If you decide to do the PRP treatment we can either accommodate you that day or schedule an appointment at your convenience (sessions typically last 60-90 minutes)

♦  The nurse will then take 30ml or 60ml of your blood (depending on area being treated)

♦  The blood is centrifuged and spun down in our Harvest machine which takes about 14 minutes.

♦  While the blood is being spun, your scalp will be numbed up (frozen) with local anesthetics

♦  You will be allowed to sit and relax for 20-30 minutes while the machine spins the blood

♦  After the blood is spun the plasma rich platelets are removed and injected back in your scalp

♦  The scalp is then cleaned and dried so you can return to your normal activities.

In about 3-6 months after the PRP injection session.

We offer different packages but have seen the best results with treatment at 1 month, 3 months  and 6 months and touch ups every year (however not all individuals may require this)

Usually not however any procedure/medication that stimulates hair growth does have the potential to cause shedding).

It can do both but our goal is to increase hair density

You may color your hair up to 3 days prior to the PRP session and after 3 days post procedure

Yes you will be able to return to all your normal activities, however if out in the sun it is recommended to wear a hat
